I had the exciting opportunity to craft an eye-catching and informative event flyer for Cal Poly Pomona's 20th Annual Lunar New Year celebration.
Design Inspiration:
Drawing inspiration from the center's previous flyer designs, I aimed to infuse the flyer with a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. To capture the essence of the Lunar New Year, I incorporated a rich color palette of reds and gold, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. These colors not only evoke a sense of celebration but also add an element of elegance to the overall design.
Visual Elements: Emphasizing the year and the corresponding animal was paramount, and in this case, 2023 marks the year of the Rabbit. To capture the spirit of this zodiac animal, I skillfully intertwined illustration with typography. The Rabbit takes center stage, portrayed in a lively and charming manner, signifying hope, luck, and new beginnings. The typography complements the illustration, reflecting the joyous nature of the event while maintaining legibility for easy readability.
Informative and Versatile: One of the key challenges was ensuring that the flyer seamlessly translated digitally and on print. By strategically placing essential event details such as the date, time, location, and a brief overview of the celebration, I successfully conveyed the necessary information while maintaining the visual appeal. The flyer's design allows it to be shared across various digital platforms and printed formats, making it versatile and easily accessible to a wide audience.
